Ok, so I legitimately forgot that I even had a blog. I haven't given it one single thought since my last post. I just saw that the last post had several comments awaiting my pleasure, most of them accusing me of tantalisation. Let me assure you that I wrote a nice long post, and blogger ate it when I tried to post it. Only the title survived, and I was so mad I logged off and haven't been back since. It's been so long that I can't remember why the title is about gravy boats.
Last week we welcomed Emily Anne into our family and bid a fond farewell to sleep for the next few months. She and Will are already opposites. Will had a super easy labor and an absolutely heck-ish recovery. Emily's labor was excruciating (think 6 out of 10 with an epidural already in place), but I'm already mostly recovered after just a week. She nurses; he didn't. He had great muscle control; she does a perfect rag doll impersonation. He hardly slept at all; she's pretty much comatose. She loves to cuddle; he did not. I'm sure the differences will only get more pronounced as they both grow.
I'm doing great. Achy muscles are about the worst of my recovery problems. Even my stitches don't hurt (2nd degree tear). It's actually making me nervous. I keep thinking there's something huge and painful about to descend upon me because I've had such an easy time. Jon has been a great help to me. He has three weeks of paternity leave, and we're both enjoying every minute of it. We spend a lot of time doing nothing except admiring the baby, reading, watching TV, and playing with Will. It makes for a messy house, but houses can always be cleaned up later (don't tell Jon I wrote that!).
Jon is still working at McGladrey, although we're contemplating a move to Arizona. It's funny how your priorities change when you have kids. All of a sudden living by family becomes more important than you originally thought. And not just for the free babysitting. :) Jon wants to get out of public accounting anyway, so we thought it might be time to just make the big move. He's working with some recruiters to find a new job.
Will is still Will. Emily hasn't changed him very much, although he seems to like her. He is still wild, reckless, and strong-willed. I'm just glad I can run fast enough again to chase him down. He's entered the "no" phase of the terrible twos. It seems that nothing gets done anymore without a battle of wills (no pun intended). We have to be really careful with the new baby because it's so easy to always be pleased with her and caustic with Will. Will's newest trick is casual nudity. He loves to strip down and take off; the more public the place, the better. And, wouldn't you know it, he hasn't been sick for months, and he caught a cold the weekend we had Emily. What are the odds? He's also teething his last molars, so he's cranky and rebellious. Between him and Emily, I'm only getting about 3 hours of sleep per night. Luckily Jon is here to let me nap every day. Oh, the terrible twos. I think next time I'll leave a slightly larger gap between my children, so I don't have a two year old and a newborn at the same time!

Spring has Sprung
Winter put out one last ditch effort last month, but now spring is officially here. The ornamental pear trees (?!) are in full bloom, birds are chirping, and we're averaging a balmy 70 degrees F. It's definitely...different having spring come in February when I'm used to spring in May or June. Not that I'm complaining...
Other than the freaky weather, there's not much else to update. Jon is still unavailable for comment. I'm still tired despite my best efforts to go to bed at 10p.m. (laughable, at best). Will still terrorizes the house. I thought he was a smart kid, but his determination seems to override his smarts. He wants to get into the kitchen drawers 'real bad,' and he's already pinched his fingers a multitude of times. Yet, he just keeps coming back for more. Glutton for punishment. He can now get onto his feet, but he can't straighten up yet, so it doesn't count as standing. He delights in cramming his fingers up his nose, the more food-covered the better. I'll be right back because I'm pretty sure I just heard the DVD player open.
Yes. About 5 seconds ago, Will learned how to open the DVD tray. Fantastic.
My little sisters are coming to visit on Saturday. It will be fun for everyone. At least it will be fun once Jessica has her boards done. She's taking them in Dallas next Wednesday. Good luck!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I got called to be the first councillor in the Primary Presidency. It's been fun so far, but the strangest thing I've noticed is that this ward never sings any of the Primary songs I learned growing up, even though they're all still in the song book. I haven't known the words to any of the songs except the birthday songs. Even then, they're learning a new birthday song I've never heard of. I've always thought that songs like "Nephi's Courage" and that hinges song were staples in the Primary repertoire. I still shudder to even think the words to "Nephi's Courage," so I'm kind of glad it fell out of favor.
Until next month,
Stephanie B.

Rambles of a sleep-deprived mother
It's update time! The mood hits me every month or so. Or every two months. The Boizelle family is doing great, at least we think so. Jon is usually unavailable for comment due to busy season. Right now he's weathering "snowmageddon" in "snowklahoma." No kidding. That's what the news is calling this storm. Jon is the official driver/snow shoveler for his team because he's the only one who thought to bring a warm coat and sneakers for the blizzard they knew was coming. Not to knock on Texans, but they're crazy. I've barely left our apartment for two weeks because it's icy and snowing. I know how to drive in ice and snow. The problem is that they don't. They're horrible drivers to begin with. Add in some ice, and I have visions of Will and I and our poor little Honda being crushed beneath an out-of-control Ford F-350 with Dualies.
I have decided that single motherhood is not for me. I can probably wait for busy season to be over, but it's going to be a long wait. I'm staying busy sewing my quiet book (it's cute!), and cleaning up after that mini tornado I spawned. I'm also growing a few garden plants and herbs which are currently residing in my living room due to all the frost, ice, and snow. I've been really perplexed because my allergies have been acting up lately. Can you believe it took me almost two weeks to realize that I'm slightly allergic to my mini garden! Outside they go as soon as it's warm enough.
Will, as previously mentioned, is a mini tornado, an earthquake, and a tsunami all rolled into one, then crammed into 27 inches of mayhem. His little antics are so funny. Some of his new tricks include rocking back and forth in his high chair until the real chair starts tipping (heart attack!), sitting in front of closed doors and banging the back of his head on them, pulling all the rubber ends off the door stop sproingers and eating them, and climbing up on everything in sight, including the edges of the tub. He loves to climb up to the spout or talk to himself in that round silver thing set into the edge of the tub. He still doesn't splash, but he crawls around and around and around and loves every second of bath time. He also takes delight in finding every tiny little thing that I leave on the floor and eating it. I've fished door sproingers, pretzels, cardboard, string, pieces of dryer sheets, bits of rubber, and several unidentifiable somethings out of his mouth. He hates it when I steal his prizes. I can always tell when he's got something in his mouth because he crawls up with a huge grin and his jaw chomping like crazy. I think 9 months is going to be my favorite age. He can crawl and be a little independent, but he still needs me around. He's decided that hugs from mom are pretty great, so whenever I pick him up he lays his head on my shoulder and cuddles for a bit. He's also starting to get really interested in books. His favorite book is "Five Little Ladybugs" (seen below). The ladybugs are plastic, so each page has interesting ladybugs on one side and holes on the other. We read this book two or three times per day. When he wants to read it, he grabs it, gives a little cry, and then looks up to see if I'm coming. If not, the cries escalate until I do come.

Gee, can you tell that Will is always around and Jon is never around? Will has a book and Jon has a couple of lines. lol. I post pictures on facebook fairly regularly. Go there for pics. Again, it's much too complicated to get them off my phone and upload them. And yesterday I nearly had a heart attack because I downloaded my videos and deleted them from my phone and when I went to play them, none of them worked. After a mini panic attack, I realized that I was getting audio but not visual. A little research taught me that apparently smart phones record videos in high def which is typically stored in MPEG4 format to save space. Only iTunes has the capacity to play MPEG4 format. Most programs can only play one or the other, audio or visual. We are now the proud owners of a free iTunes download and a host of cute Will videos!
In other news, one of my best friends, Melody, had a baby! It's a boy named David Grant McBride (her husband is the brother of Jon's old roommate, Nate) and he weighed 9 lbs. Yay!

Ok, it's only been a month, not six, but maybe we'll shoot for monthly updates instead of semi-annual. Still no pictures. I am a lackadaisical blogger at best. If you want pictures, look on facebook. I'm too lazy to figure out how to get pictures off my smart phone onto the laptop and then spend forever uploading and formatting them on blogger. One stroke of a touch screen uploads pics directly to facebook. I did the math! :)
Biggest news of the week: my sister Jessica's engaged! She got engaged yesterday to a guy named Dan Earle. I've only met him once, but he seemed really nice. He works for the RCMP, and he currently holds the national sharpshooting record in Canada, even though he's only 22 (I think). He got into the RCMP when he was 19 which is impossible, so he's apparently pretty good. They haven't set any details yet, but I'll let you know when they do. Luckily for us, they're not thinking of getting married until May or June. That's post-busy season for you non-accountants. Jon might actually be able to come. I'm getting rather fond of flying across the country with an infant (not), but I'd rather have him come.
I'm rambling, in case no one noticed, and here's why: Will. He's still got teething pain which means he's not sleeping. He also refuses to drink anything. Juice and water get rejected without even a second glance. Try to force him and he howls the house down while gnashing around with those devilish sharp teeth. Combine lack of fluids with increase of solids and we have a whole new set of problems to deal with. I'm not getting much sleep.
On a positive note, Will's grown to 27 inches, putting him in the 50th percentile for height. He did not gain an ounce (literally) in the last six weeks, so he dropped into the 10th percentile in weight. He currently weighs in at 16 lbs, 8 oz.
I'm working on a quiet book. It's coming very slowly (not my fault). Jon's working and stressed out because he has three audits still open right now, so he has homework every night (several hours of it) which is cutting into his CPA study time. The office Christmas party was a blast. I used to think accountants were boring. :) I laughed really hard at the 2 second pause after every comment I made while the other person processed through the alcohol.
Jon also got called to be the assistant ward mission leader. He's excited. He gets to teach gospel principles and that's right up his alley. Bishop told me they can't figure out where to put me. He actually asked me where I wanted to be put. I think he would have put me there, too, if I had actually suggested something. It's weird to go from holding 5 or 6 callings at once, to holding none. I feel slightly out of the loop.

It's been a while...
Yep! It's time for the semi-annual updating of the Boizelle blog! Best two days of my year!
I figured out why I procrastinate though. It's all those stupid pictures and videos I try to upload. They take forever, and half the time they don't work anyway when I do get them up. This blog is picture and video free! I know, lame, right? But at least I updated.
Will and I are in Canada right now, visiting my family while Jon is away on business trips. Yes, we finally made it after all that trouble. I swear the US/ Canada border is the bane of my life. Jon's in Chicago now, and he'll be in Houston next week. It's a bummer not seeing him for two weeks, but it's even more of a bummer for him because Will is teething and almost crawling. It's a toss up to see whether or not we'll make it home before he either crawls for the first time or gets his first tooth. Jon's sad he might miss those momentous moments. I'm just glad I'm here and not at home so that my mom can help me with the grouchy, teething baby.
Will finally had his 4 month Dr visit (on his 51/2 month b-day). He weighs in at a hefty 16.8lbs and measures 25.5 in. He's on the small side of the scale, sitting right around the 35-40th percentile for both weight and height, but at least he's not falling off the charts yet like Jon did. My mom thinks he's scrawny, but he's got cheeks that would provide a convenient hiding place for a squirrel's nut collection.
On a side note, I got my luggage finally, after the airline left it sitting in SLC. You'd think a 4 hour layover would be enough time to get it right, but not this time. I've been wandering around the house without glasses for three days. Not pleasant. Not to mention borrowing my mom's shirts. And Will only has three outfits (we bought him two of those), all three of which he promptly soiled yesterday and there was nothing I could do about it! Hurray for having your own stuff
In other news, Jon and I bought our first car together. It's a used Mazda 3 hatchback in silver with a manual transmission. Jon's in love with the new car. It was the first hatchback we test drove and he decided then and there that it was the car for him! I made him test drive a couple others just to make sure. I seem to have an aversion to buying the first car we test drove. We decided Jon gets to drive it while I drive our Honda, so he's pleased as punch.
That's all for today folks. Don't forget to tune in 6 months from now for the next official blog post!
